How It Works
The employer pays for the EAP. There is no charge to the employee unless a referral for additional services is necessary.
Each employee and all of his or her family members are covered by the program at less than one percent of the average employee healthcare benefit premium cost per month.
Voluntary participation is promoted through extensive education and publicity programs to encourage utilization.
Employees may call a toll-free number 24 hours a day to receive personalized support from a professional staff member with advanced clinical credentials.  If a personal consultation is needed, an RMC EAP consultant will meet with the employee or his or her family members within 48 hours. All consultants are licensed, certified and have received Master’s level and advanced specialty training.
If a referral for further help is needed, the RMC consultant will help set up appointments and provide guidance if the employee will need to access his or her health benefits. However, more than 50% of employees who use their EAP do not require services beyond their EAP visits.
Confidentiality is crucial to ensure use of the program. In keeping with EAP ethical and legal requirements, no information may be provided to the employer that identifies employees who are using EAP programs. All records are sealed and locked and are subject to the same protections as medical records.
RMC conducts training programs to help supervisors identify employees in need and encourage use of the EAP.
RMC ensures that its EAP meets customer needs through quality assurance systems, quarterly program analysis reports and annual reviews.
The total health and productivity cost of worker stress to American business is estimated at $50-$150 billion annually.
